Supervisor of Fabricators and Assembly Workers

Employees in this job supervise machinists, welders, fabricators involved in production, routine maintenance, and fabrication work. In addition this position is responsible to oversee a team of assembly works in the production of industrial magnetic and metal detecting products. The employee is required to understand and interpret blueprints, sketches, or other description of parts to be fabricated, and to select materials and plan the sequence of operations to be performed by staff in accordance with accepted methods and standards of the machinist trade. The work requires knowledge of supervisory techniques, personnel policies, and procedures.
What you will do:
The employee functions as a first-line supervisor of Machinists and Assembly production areas.
Skills in the operation of machine tools, tooling choice, and the use of precision measuring devices is a plus.
Observe operation of machinery and assist in the diagnosing of malfunctions.
Estimates costs of material to accomplish assignments.
Ability to apply shop mathematics to practical problems such as computing dimensions, laying out work, and setting up machine tools.
Studies blueprints and sketches in order to plan material, equipment, and labor needs to accomplish tasks.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Solid knowledge of training and supervisory techniques.
May occasionally perform any task assigned to subordinate staff during training of employees.
Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees.
Assists with interviews for new employees, and assigns staff.
Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to the work.
Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.
What you will need:
Workflow, work orders, work order software.
Two year of supervisory experience.
Quality Control experience.
Lean manufacturing experience.
ERP software experience.
Job scheduling, shop routers & planning.
Reviewing drawings for material & tooling.
Reviewing RFQ’s and providing accurate estimates.
Managing day to day shop floor processes, flow & inventory.
Efficient management of shop personnel.
Effective straight forward & clear communicator.
Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook) Intermediate Level
Education:
Minimum of a high school diploma.
Secondary education is a plus.
