Job Description

Overview:

The position of Maintenance Fabricator supports the Maintenance & Engineering Department’s initiatives to maximize uptime and effective throughput of plant processing equipment from receipt of raw ingredients through the palletizing and warehousing of finished product.

Responsibilities:

Work with the Maintenance & Engineering Department to deploy new and existing equipment into
the plant production facility.

Provide fabrication services which include the following:

o Existing equipment repairs
o Fabrication of special designs issued by either the Maintenance or Engineering
Department
o Fabrication of new structures on an as needed basis per project and capital work
o Layout and installation services for new equipment and minor projects
o Maintenance repairs and PM tasks
o Sanitary welding for plant processing equipment on 304L and 316L Stainless Steel
o Implementing conceptual designs from Engineering or Maintenance Department
o Hot Work in Hazardous Dust Environments
o Assisting Maintenance with production improvements

Work with outside vendors to assist with project work completion

Know and understand city, county, state and federal regulations relating to maintenance and
plant equipment; works in a manner to ensure that these regulations are met.

Participates in safety, health, and environmental programs.
Housekeeping duties to include sweeping, cleaning and sanitizing both work areas throughout the
plant and maintenance shop area, as necessary.

Report any food safety issue observed to Manager or Supervisor.

Report any security breaches, attempts at product tampering or contamination, or other suspicious behavior observed to Manager or Supervisor.

Works with contractors and assists with new installations and other projects, as necessary.

Complete and comply with the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), Daily Routine List (DRL),

HACCP procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
Compliance.

Maintain a food-safe sanitary environment at all times.

Complete records/quality checks with accuracy and attention to detail.

Escalate any non-conforming product/equipment/material to the appropriate manager/supervisor
immediately.

Follow Company’s quality assurance procedures and protocols at all times while on duty (eg.

Labeling of containers, Inventory Control, PM programs).

Promote a positive proactive environment where input from team members is valued and
encouraged.

Available for overtime work on a scheduled or call-in basis, as necessary.

Provide back-up support for other roles, as necessary.

Other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.

Qualifications:

o A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
o Experience fabricating sanitary systems; piping and structures
o Working knowledge of fabrication equipment; welders, generators, etc.
o Five to ten (5-10) years’ industrial fabrication experience

Skills:

o Welding; MIG, TIG, Arc
o Spatial planning; drawings and layouts
o Must be self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently and as a team
o Systematic troubleshooting skills
o Excellent communication skills – ability to have technical discussions with non-technical
employees

Physical Requirments:

o Regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
o Frequently climb ladders, and occasionally work at heights of 100 feet.
o Frequently work in elevated temperatures while following acceptable safety restrictions

Environment:

Regularly exposed to work near moving parts/equipment.
Regularly exposed to major amounts of dust.
Regularly exposed to moderate to severe noise levels.
Frequently exposed to outdoor/uncontrolled weather conditions
Occasionally exposed to chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
