Hours and location: 40+ hours per week, Mondays to Fridays. Flexibility is essential for the role.
The role will be based at Griffon Road, Ilkeston.
WARD are looking for an experienced Welder Fabricator to join our Maintenance Team based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. The role includes assisting with the maintenance, repair, improvement and consistency of the operational plant and equipment in line with the business needs and legislative requirements. Supporting the business’ processing operations in achieving the desired throughput, reliability and quality associated with its products and requirements is a significant part of the role.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with legislative and business Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements
Participate in a structured programme of welding repairs and refurbishment to plant and equipment
To assist the wider maintenance team with maintenance program for mobile and static plant
To provide fabrication support for plant and equipment requirements, participating in design and production elements
Identify and development of opportunities to reduce costs and waste from the business.
Coach, Mentor, Train and Develop apprentice(s) as required
Provide excellent communication skills.
Support the company’s drive towards continual improvement.
Ensure accurate and concise maintenance records are kept for all repairs / refurbishment and fabrication
Skills and Knowledge Required:
Proficient in a variety of welding techniques – MMA (Arc) & MIG proficiency mandatory, TIG and / or GAS welding beneficial
Able to weld in a variety of positions including (but not limited to) horizontal, vertical and overhead
Experience with heavy industrial plant and equipment – aggregate / recycling industry experience desirable
Innovative and lateral thinking
Provide input into processing operations, maintenance activities and projects as required
Motivated self-starter
Ability to plan and prioritise workload of self
PC literate with knowledge / experience of using Microsoft Office applications
Able to challenge the accepted norm with new ideas and / or ways of working
Flexible approach to working hours
