Position Summary:

Under general supervision, sets up and operates metal fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, saws and presses to cut, bend, straighten, and form metal plates, sheets and structural shapes according to blueprints and specifications.

Essential Functions:

Maintain FCAW, GMAW, and SMAW Structural Welding Certifications

Complete understanding and interpretation of welding procedures and specifications

Complete ability to interpret drawings and blue prints with minimal supervision

Layout components per drawings and specifications with minimal supervision

Fit Up components per drawings and specifications with minimal supervision

Weld out components in accordance with Qualified Weld Procedures and Specifications

Effectively and accurately operate hand held oxy / acetylene cutting torch.

Effectively and accurately operate hand held plasma cutting torch

Proficiently operate shop equipment to include cranes, rolls, press break, iron worker, etc.

Operate Mobile Equipment to include Fork Lifts, Man Lifts, etc.
Perform self evaluation in regards to quality for all work performed

Work in a safe and productive manner at all times while adhering to Laron Safety Policies

Perform Safety audits of work area

Perform / Assist in the performance of preventive maintenance of all shop equipment

Maintain Minimum Took List

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain GTAW Certification

Maintain Pipe Certification in 6G Position utilizing GTAW and SMAW Weld Processes

Maintain Weld Certification for Exotic Alloys and special applications

Pipe Fitting (Simple and Complex Systems)

Proficient in Brazing

Assist in Project Estimating

All other duties as assigned by management

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated skills to include, yet not limited to: equipment selection, equipment maintenance, operation monitoring, quality control analysis, active listening, and reading comprehension

Ability to demonstrate arm-hand steadiness, manual dexterity, trunk strength, finger dexterity, problem sensitivity and performance of general physical activities

Work styles should demonstrate consistency and effectiveness with attention to detail, dependability, cooperation, self control, persistence and initiative

Training/Education and/or Special Qualifications:

An appropriate mix of education and experience which would allow the employee to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above; and at least 3 years of experience directly related to the essential functions as specified.

Physical Requirements and/or Working Environment:

Must be able to stand and or sit for long periods of time

Must be able to be in semi constant movement / exertion for a 12 hour period

Must be able to withstand extreme temperatures

Must be able to perform duties in confined areas

Must be able to lift in excess of 100 lbs

Must be able to perform duties within noisy and chaotic surroundings

Must have ability to properly wear necessary PPE

Work requires arm and hand steadiness

Work requires good vision and depth perception

Shift changes may be required on a job specific basis

Work requires both shop and field work
