Classic Car Welder/ Fabricator/ Mechanic

North America Overland is a small shop that specializes in restoration of 50s, 60s and 70s Land Rovers. This job position involves many different aspects of auto restoration with a strong focus on steel and aluminum welding. Responsibilities include doing rust rust repair in steel and welding holes and patch panels in aluminum as well as fabricating small parts and assisting with mock ups of new body panels. No specific knowledge of Land Rovers is required. The applicant is expected to have their own set of tools and several years of experience in welding and working on classic cars.
Necessary skills:
MIG welding steel— 18 gauge to 1/4”
MIG welding aluminum— 18 gauge and 16 gauge
cut out rust, make repair panels and weld in
weld in steel repair panels without altering measurements
weld in small repair panels to aluminum without warping panels
general metal fabrication skills
familiar with use of cutting and grinding tools
ability to take accurate measurements
general automotive mechanical skills
understand different fasteners and thread pitches
know how to use taps and dies
bend and flare brake lines
have your own set of high quality tools
follow lists
work efficiently
work independently or with others
careful around painted parts
know names of parts and how to ID car parts

Pay: $25.00 – $32.00 per hour
