Come join the team at a spirited, people-focused fabrication shop in Gowanus that specializes in custom architectural and sculptural metalwork. We are currently hiring for the role of Fabrication Assistant. This is a position which will provide a supportive learning environment to the right candidate who is eager to learn, mechanically-minded and ready to tackle challenges. Welding/hot work experience is a plus but not necessary; however, prior building/carpentry experience is needed on our team.

This is a position with the flexibility to be full or part-time depending on need. Pay is $17-20/hour dependent on experience, shop hours are M-F from 9-5:30pm.

Candidate should be confident in fulfilling these responsibilities:

Finishing, cleaning, and assisting in the fabrication of pieces of various types (aluminum, steel, stainless, wood, MDF, etc)

Assisting in shop organization, inventory processes and maintenance of equipment

Driving company vehicle to pick up/drop off parts

Install/site work as needed

Using basic hand and power tools

Operating milling and cutting equipment

Candidate should meet these requirements:

Valid OSHA 40 certification (needed upon hire if not already obtained)

FDNY Fire Guard Certification (needed upon hire if not already obtained)

Valid US Driver’s License

Ability to lift 50 pounds

Ability to work crouching, kneeling, or from a ladder as needed

An interest in learning and improving upon metalwork and fabrication skills
